HAWI which is the latest of the director/author/producer Ibrahim El Batout work, is participating in The 4th Gulf Film Festivalthat is hosted in Dubai from the 14th-20th of April 2011. HAWI was selected in The 4th Gulf Film Festival under the segmentIntersections which aims to present only the most distinct of elements in the field of cinema. the movies that are included in such a segment stand out by the leading role in the movie making industry, as the unique nature is defined by their creativity and the use of the most up-to-date technical tools.
HAWI, by Ibrahim El Batout, has recently taken part in many International Festival covering several countries. After taking the Grand Prize for the best film in Al Doha Tribeca Film Festival, Ibrahim El Batout went with his film to the 40th Rotterdam International Film Festival, held between January 26th to February 6th. The film participated in the official competition and was praised by the audiences for its high technical standards.
HAWI then participated in the 29th Fajr Film Festival in the Iranian capital, Tehran, which was held between the 5th to the 15th of February this year. Lately, Hawi, participated in the Mediterranean Films sector in the 32nd Valencia International Film Festival, which was held between the 7th to the 14th of April.
HAWI is written and directed by Ibrahim El Batout and stars a wide range of new Alexandrian actors/actresses like Mohamed El Sayed, Sherif El Dessouky, and Rina Aref, including the talented Hanan Yousef.
